The Politecnico di Milano (Polytechnic University of Milan) is the largest technical university in Italy, with about 37,600 students. It offers undergraduate, graduate and higher education courses in Engineering, Architecture and Design. Founded in 1863, it is the oldest university in Milan.
The Politecnico has two main campuses in Milan city, where the majority of the research and teaching activity are located, and other satellite campuses in five other cities across Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. The central offices and headquarters are located in the historical campus of Città Studi in Milan, which is also the largest, active since 1927.
The university was ranked the best for Engineering and among the top big universities in Italy in the CENSIS-Repubblica Italian University rankings for 2011-2012 and is ranked as the 28th best technical university in the world according to the QS World University Rankings
Politecnico maintains several relations with foreign universities and offers a wide range of international projects for student exchange, The university encourages the enrolment of foreign students by providing several courses in English, German and Spanish.It participates in the ENTREE network for student exchange among Electrical Engineering colleges in Europe and it is a member of Top Industrial Managers for Europe (TIME) network.
Politecnico di Milano is part of several international student exchange networks: Athens, Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, MEDes, Pegasus and Unitech, with agreements with about 400 foreign universities.

The University of Milan (Italian: Università degli Studi di Milano, "Statale") is a higher education institution in Milan. It is one of the largest universities in Europe, with about 58,400 students, a permanent teaching and research staff of about 2,200 and a non-teaching staff of 2,200.
The University of Milan has 9 schools and offers 134 undergraduate and graduate courses, 21 Doctoral Schools and 92 Specialization Schools. The University's research and teaching activities have developed over the years and have received important international recognitions. The University is the only Italian member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), a group of twenty-two research-intensive European Universities. It is also the best university in Italy in several rankings.
Throughout Milan, the University is commonly nicknamed and referred to as Statale (state) to avoid confusion with other private universities in the city.
At the present time, the University comprises 9 schools, 134 study courses (both undergraduate and graduate), 19 doctoral schools (scuole di dottorato) and 92 specialisation schools (scuole di specializzazione). The University of Milan was one of the institutions that helped to found LERU, the League of European Research Universities, and is the only Italian University to be a member of the organisation. Thanks to its commitment to basic and applied research, the University is among the top institutions in the main national and international rankings.
UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI MILANO-BICOCCA
The University of Milan - Bicocca (Italian: Università degli Studi di Milano - Bicocca, UNIMIB) is a university located in an area on the northern outskirts of Milan, which was occupied by the Pirelli industrial complex until the late 1980s.
The University of Milan-Bicocca was established in 1998 and it’s the youngest university in Milan. It has about 32,900 students. The industrial area, which is located, has been redesigned by architect Vittorio Gregotti into an urban complex, including the University of Milan-Bicocca’s research laboratories and student residence halls. The building U6, located in piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo, will host the plenary of AGM.
There are eight faculties: Economics, Science of Education, Law, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, Sociology and Statistical Sciences.

The University is organized into 12 faculties and 7 postgraduate schools. In addition to these, the University runs several double degree programs with other institutions throughout the world. Degrees are offered both in Italian and in English.

Cattolica is characterized by a campus extending to six Italian cities (Milan, Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona, Rome and Campobasso), with its seat is in the historic Cistercian monastery situated near the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in the heart of Milan. The Milan’s campus is nestled within the original city walls, in St. Ambrose district.
UNIVERSITÀ COMMERCIALE LUIGI BOCCONI
Bocconi University (Italian: Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi) is a private university in Milan and it has about 14,300 students. Bocconi provides undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education, in addition to a range of double degree programs, in the fields of economics, management, finance, law and public administration. According to many university rankings, the university is among the top universities in Italy and among the top 25 best institutions in the world, in the fields of Economics, Econometrics, Accounting and Finance in the latest QS World University Rankings, 5th in Europe. Degrees are offered both in English and Italian.
It was founded in 1902 by Ferdinando Bocconi and was named after his son, who died during the First Italo-Ethiopian War. The university was initially affiliated to the engineering school Politecnico di Milano and the teaching model based on that at the École Supérieure of Antwerp.
Bocconi is an internationally oriented institution in business, economics, and law. It is also a research university, receiving funds for its research projects from national and supranational institutions.
Bocconi University is structured around five schools: Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Law School, PhD School, and SDA Bocconi School of Management, its graduate business school. Bocconi presently offers Bachelor Degrees, Masters of Science, MBAs and PhDs in Finance, Economics, Management, Statistics, Law and other disciplines. It also has a number of post-experience programs, and administers many customized executive education courses.
The university also provides activities for high school students in Italy, such as mathematics competitions, Model United Nations simulations and other major events aimed at orienting them during their secondary education.
LIBERA UNIVERSITÀ DI LINGUE E COMUNICAZIONE IULM
The IULM University - Milan (Italian: Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM ) is a university located in Milan. It is organized in 4 Faculties and it has about 4,300 students.
It was founded by Senior Professor Carlo Bo and Professor Silvio Baridon in 1968. It was renamed in 1998, as the IULM University of Languages and Communication, to reflect its teaching of both languages and communication.
IULM University offers five three-year degree courses:
Public Relations and Business Communication; Communication, Media and Advertising;
Interpreting and Communication; Tourism, Culture and Territory;
Communication in Culture and Arts Markets.
In addition to these three-year undergraduate degree courses, IULM University offers one- and two-year post-graduate degree courses, and also research doctorate schools.
Teaching staff include managers and professionals from media and communication, professional services, business, public administration and cultural organisations. Teaching is done through lectures, classroom activities and case studies, continuous assessment, internships in Italy and abroad and through international student exchanges.
